Personal Branding: How to Live Stream Like a Pro

Live streaming is the new big thing in online marketing for SEO Ranking. Entrepreneurs and brands can both use live streaming to their advantage. Those who already do are witnessing a rise in followers and user engagement. Of course, in order for this to work, you need to have a strategy in place.

Going live on camera is an excellent way to build your personal brand. If you’re a bigger business, you can also put a face to your organization to enjoy the benefits of live streaming and personal branding.

So what does it take to make your live streams a success?

Make Videos Personal

For one, the camera needs to be on you – at least in the beginning. The great thing about going live is that it immediately opens the door for followers to connect with you. It’s like inviting someone into your home. If you’re trying to showcase a live event, start off with the camera on you. Then start filming what’s around you. Your live videos should always have you on them, not just your voice.

Make an Introduction

At the beginning of your videos, make sure to introduce yourself and where you are. Never assume everyone who’s watching already knows you. State your name and your location. For instance, you can say, “Hi, it’s Mark Dunn here at...”

Capture their Attention

You need to state the purpose of your video at the beginning to draw people in. The title of your live feed should also be properly titled and optimized. Viewers don’t want to sit there waiting to figure out what the episode is about. State your takeaways outright, so people can make a decision of whether or not to continue watching.

Always Show Professionalism

If you’re a brand, make sure the face of your company is someone that’s professional. The language, operation of the camera and the overall content should always be kept to a professional standard. No slouching or lying around or moving the camera in a dizzying manner. The person should also be able to speak expertly and without constantly repeating themselves.

Add a Bit of Humor

Don’t mistake being professional for being boring and without personality. Online videos perform best when they are human, humorous and entertaining. Humor is and always will be a great way to hook people to your current and future episodes. Poking fun at yourself is a great way to reduce the narcissism factor that a lot of videographers tend to carry.
